Action Alert: Save Benton Harbor's Jean Klock Park
August 25, 2006
Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor, Michigan is threatened by golf course plan
Jean Klock Park is a rare natural oasis, a public park set aside in 1917 to be used as a city park forever, with coveted lakefront on Lake Michigan. Jean Klock Park is now threatened with being taken from the public and placed into private hands with little benefit to the community or the children of Benton Harbor, for whom the park was explicitly dedicated. The proposed golf course can be relocated on private land in the expansive Harbor Shores development.
Write to the governor and to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board and urge them to not support the destruction and conversion of Jean Klock Park for a golf course as part of the Harbor Shores development.
